--2022--

The 44th Pensacola Sports Annual Racquet Round-up opened with some 120 kids at the Roger Scott Tennis Center in Pensacola on May 31 and June 1. This free introduction to tennis by Pensacola Sports for kids from 5-8 and 9-12 has been supported by the YTF since 2010 with no clinics held in 2020 due to Covid. The first seven years YTF donated $1000 per year increasing the value to the current $1500 donation in 2017. Racquet Round-Up will be held at 6 other Pensacola area sites throughout the month of June. Nearly 300 kids benefitted from the efforts of the YTF and other Pensacola Sports sponsors this year.

Roger Scott Tennis Racquet Round-up featured 120+ kids over two very hot days and they hung in there very well.

Thirty kids from the Ebonwood Community Center were slated to have Racquet Round-up on June 13 at the adjacent Oakcrest Elementary School brand new Tennis-4-Everyone Tennis Courts. Unfortunately, there was rain and the whole event was moved to a large covered patio using shorter nets and tape. Players enjoyed the full event even under the patio.

The first three Pensacola Sports Association's (PSA) 36th Annual Racquet Round-up were held at Roger Scott Tennis Center in Pensacola, June University of West Florida in North Pensacola, and Hollice T. Williams Park in downtown Pensacola. The free of charge clinics included prizes, t-shirts and refreshments as well as lots of tennis with the age appropriate balls. The first three clinics drew over 300 kids to all the activities. Parents, coaches and local high school players were among the volunteers helping on the courts. In addition to the PSA, the Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida (YTF) is a major sponsor of the event.

The PSA has two more chances in July to reach more beginning kids with July 25 and 26 clinics at the beautiful revamped Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze and on July 29 at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. The PSA hopes to draw a total off 600 kids after the last two clinics.
